Directions

1. The first and foremost step is to take a large bowl and add all the ingredients mentioned above, i.e., yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, tomato paste, and all the flavorings, including salt and pepper to prepare the marinade. Whisk all the ingredients in a bowl to combine.
2. Now, place the chicken cubes in the marinade bowl and coat them nicely. Cover the bowl and allow the chicken cubes to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.
3. After marinating the chicken cubes, take skewers and thread the chicken cubes before grilling them. Also, thread one chunk of onion to each skewer (Keep in mind that you will need sixteen skewers in total).
4. Give 5 to 8 minutes per side to grill the chicken cubes on medium heat.
5. Once they are thoroughly cooked, transfer the skewers on a plate.

WAYS IN WHICH YOU CAN SERVE SHISH TAWOOK:

1. Shish Tawook is usually served with pita bread. On pita bread, apply butter and garlic sauce. Then, place lettuce on top of the sauce. Afterward, remove cooked chicken cubes from the skewers and put them on top of the lettuce. Roll the pita bread and serve immediately.
2. Another way to serve this delicious Shish Tawook is to dish them out with rice and grilled vegetables.

RECIPE NOTES:

1. The leftover chicken skewers can be easily stored in an airtight container for three days in the refrigerator.
2. The trick to keep the chicken cubes moist is to place and cover the cooked chicken cubes with pita bread just after grilling. The pita bread helps to trap moisture and will keep chicken juicy and luscious.
3. The nutritional information is only about the chicken skewers. It does include garlic sauce, butter, or pita bread.
