Directions

STEPS TO PREPARE COFFEE CAKE:

1. The initial step is to preheat the oven at 191 degrees celsius. Also, take an 8 by 8-inch square baking pan and grease it with cooking spray and set this prepared baking pan aside.

2. In one large mixing bowl, combine all the dry ingredients, i.e., all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.

3. Cut the butter with the help of a pastry cutter and add it into the flour mixture. Mix until coarse crumbs are formed.

4. Now, add all the wet constituents, i.e., egg, milk, and vanilla in the dry ingredients concoction. By using a rubber spatula, mix the batter until well combined. Keep in mind that the mixture will be slightly lumpy. After mixing it properly, pour this coffee cake batter into the prepared square baking pan.

5. Take a small-size bowl and combine cinnamon and brown sugar. Dust the cinnamon and brown sugar mixture on top of the coffee cake batter in the pan.

6. Use a butter knife to cut the lines through the batter and sprinkle chopped walnuts generously on top of the batter.

7. Now put the baking pan in the preheated oven. For 25 to 30 minutes, bake the cake. After it is cooked, take it out of the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 15 minutes.

8. To make the glaze for the delicious coffee cake, whisk water, and powdered sugar together. Trickle sugar glaze on top of the coffee cake before slicing and serving the cake.

RECIPE NOTES:

1. Chopped walnuts can be swapped for chopped pecans if you like.

2. You can also omit chopped walnuts while making this recipe.

3. Instead of using brown sugar for the topping, you can also use granulated sugar if you don’t have enough brown sugar in the pantry.

4. You can store the leftover coffee cake in an airtight for three days.

5. You can also serve the coffee cake with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.
