5. Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon

8. Dried basil - 1 tablespoon
You can serve the marinara sauce with (optional): cooked pasta, shakshuka, pizza, mozzarella sticks, parmesan chicken cutlets, etc.
Directions
1. To make the sauce, use a medium heavy-bottomed saucepan. In a saucepan, combine whole peeled tomatoes with their juices, halved onions, peeled garlic cloves, oil, and flavorings, i.e., red pepper flakes, dried oregano, and basil.
2. Simmer the sauce over medium-high heat and then reduce the flame. Simmer the sauce on a low flame for about 45 minutes or until the oil droplets float free.
3. By using a wooden spoon stir the tomato sauce occasionally. After 15 minutes crushed the tomatoes against the sides of the pot.
4. Now, remove the saucepan from heat and discard the onion. With a fork, smash the tiny pieces of onion that you find and garlic cloves and stir the sauce well.
5. If you want your sauce to have a smooth consistency, then you can blend the tomato sauce using a hand or a stand blender.
6. Add salt to taste because canned tomatoes are already salty. Mix the salt well in a sauce.
7. Marinara sauce is ready. Serve this tomato sauce hot.
